11th, 12th and 13th of June there was a smal festival in Castellane: Fête de la Transhumance. It means: The shepherds feast. There where donkeys, horses and scheep!

You could see for examle how they shave the scheep and how the chanced horseshoes.

At the last day (Sunday) the scheep where going off into the mountains for the summer. There they can eat fresh grass again. When they will come back in the winter; they first have to take a bath before they are allowed to get back trough Castellane.

National costume of old Castellane:

Here it was Fête de Castellane in the weekend of 28,29 and 30 mei. It was a beautiful sight! Friday, there was a fair, and in the evening there were fireworks and there was a band playing nice music at the squere of Castellane.

Sundays, there was a lovely flowerparade. All the flowers were made of colored paper, it was very impressive!

Of course there was also music! Young and old enjoyed it very much!

The next festival is n 11th,12th and 13th of June. Then there will be a couple of hundred scheep walking trough Castellane. They are going into the mountains to spend the summer there and eat some fresh grass.

Every wednesday morning (we leave the campsite at 09.00 am), the Camping International organise a walk to the Roc. It's quite nice !!! Everyone can come: the way is very easy and the view on the top is wonderful.

This is where we're going ....

The road to the Roc is an ancient pilgrimage way.

To go on the top, the road goes all around the mountain.It permits to appreciate differents views.

On the top the landscape stretch out to the horizon ....

We can see the campsite which seems put down at the bottom of the mountain

The both ways to go up .... or down ....

The way of return ( this one which goes down on the above picture) finishes to the center of Castellane.We arrive just behind the church.(around 11.00 am )

Then we've got all time that we need to enjoy the market ...

On tuesday , i spent all my morning looking around this small village.

Look at what i found ....

This is the center place where you can enjoy two markets per week : wednesday and saturday.

If you go through this place, you will find the main street which crossing Castellane.

All around the center place , there are a lots of shops, pubs and restaurants.Here: one of the tree churchs

Le Grand hotel du Levant, a very good restaurant , not so expensive compare others but you need to book in advance
